Sony VAIO Pro 11 and VAIO Pro 13 Review – World’s Lightest Ultrabooks

Sony recently announced two new Ultrabooks dubbed as the world’s lightest Ultrabooks, the Sony VAIO Pro 11 and Sony VAIO Pro 13. Both Ultrabooks are powered by the latest 4th generation Intel Haswell Core processors and feature a carbon-fiber body. The Sony VAIO Pro 11 has display size of 11.6-inch capacitive touch screen and weighs approximately 0.870 Kg only. While it’s bigger brother, the Sony VAIO Pro 13 has a screen size of 13.3-inch capacitive display, and weighs approximately 1.060 Kg. Both the VAIO Pro 11 and Pro 13 are crafted with tough and durable uni-direction carbon fiber, making it light weight and easy to carry around.

There display are powered by Sony BRAVIA TRILUMINOS Display and X-Reality for mobile delivering a richer and more natural viewing experience with bold, true-to-life colors and sharpness. The keys in the keyboard are backlit and features a gapless palm rest, generous key spacing and stroke depth to provide comfort while typing at speed.

One of the most common things that people ask about mobile devices is its battery life. The Sony VAIO Pro 11 has a battery life of up to 11 hours, while the VAIO Pro 13 has a battery life of up to 8 hours. If you are working continuously without turning off or putting this Ultrabooks to sleep, expect that you will have to recharge it at least once in a day. However there’s an optional sheet battery that doubles stamina up to 18 hours on the Sony VAIO Pro 13, and up to 25 hours on the Sony VAIO Pro 11.

Price and Availability

There are no words yet about their exact pricing, but the Sony VAIO Pro 11 and VAIO Pro 13 might be priced around $1,150 to $1,250 more or less. Both models are expected to become available starting June 9, 2013. Colors available are Carbon Black and Carbon Silver.

UPDATE: The Sony VAIO Pro 13 and VAIO Pro 11 are now available. There are different models such as the Sony VAIO Pro SVP11213CXS, VAIO Pro SVP1321ACXB, VAIO Pro SVP13213CXS, and VAIO Pro SVP13215PXB for the 13-inch.
