Samsung has recently introduced its latest flagship Ultrabook powered by an Intel Haswell processor and features a high-resolution QHD+ display – the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus. The Ativ Book 9 Plus was announced together with its little brother the Ativ Book 9 Lite, which will be discussed here. For now let’s find out what the Ativ Book 9 Plus is made of.
UPDATE: The ATIV Book 9 Plus NP940X3G is now available, see here.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus has an aluminum and unibody design, giving it a weight of only 1.3Kg. Its thickest part is at 13.6mm only, making it thinner than the Apple MacBook Air. It also has noticeable improvements in the backlit keyboard and trackpad, offering a much better user experience, compared to its predecessors.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus sports a 13.3-inch QHD+ touch display with a whopping resolution of 3200×1800. Sooner or later 3K and 4K display resolutions will become the standard resolution in any display. This makes the current 1920×1080 HD display obsolete in a matter of months. The display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass, and you can actually flip the display up to 178 degrees.
Under its hood, the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Plus is powered by the latest 4th generation Intel Core Haswell processor. It might be a Core i5 or a Core i7 ULT processor, depending on the configuration. The CPU is paired with an 8GB of RAM and the storage is a 256GB solid-state drive (SSD). Since it has an 8GB of RAM, the operating system should be a Windows 8 64-bit, since a 32-bit OS can only recognize a maximum of around 3GB of RAM. Expect that bootup time and wake up time for this Ultrabook will only be just a few seconds.
Despite its thinness and small size, it has some basic connectivity options like USB 3.0, micro HDMI, mini VGA, a 3.5mm audio port, card reader, and locking port. One thing I like about this Ultrabook is that its battery life is capable of up to 12 hours. Usually it’s just around 6-8 hours.
Both the Ativ Book 9 Plus and Lite version features SideSync technology, where you can easily share files from the Ultrabook to a Samsung smartphone and vice versa just by dragging the files.

The Samsung ATIV Book 9 can be a little bit pricey. That is why you might want to check out its little brother, the Samsung ATIV Book 9 Lite. It’s definitely cheaper, sub $800, but it is powered by an AMD processor.
