Samsung has also introduced the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite, a 13-inch Touchscreen Notebook powered by an AMD A6 Quad-core processor, runs on Windows 8, and is the little brother (or the “lite version”) of the Ativ Book 9 Plus. It’s not as powerful as the 9 Plus, but it’s also slim, lightweight, fast, and fully capable of multitasking. Check out the Ativ Book 9 Lite specifications below.

Technically speaking the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite is not an “Ultrabook“. It does look like a slim Ultrabook, but it’s just a super-slim notebook. Because Ultrabooks are super slim laptops/notebooks that are only powered by Intel processors. I think Intel has acquired that term if I am not mistaken. And since it is powered by an AMD processor, this makes the Ativ Book 9 Lite, not an Ultrabook.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite is powered by an AMD A6 Quad-Core processor clocked at 1.4GHz, not as powerful as the Intel Core i5/i7 Haswell processors that the Ativ Book 9 Plus will have, but it’s definitely cheaper. It has a plastic body, instead of an aluminum one. Samsung has made necessary adjustments and modifications so that the Ativ Book 9 Lite will become affordable as possible without sacrificing the overall performance or speed of this Notebook.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite has a 13-inch touch screen but with a lesser resolution of 1,366×768 only. It’s a tad heavier and bulkier than the Ativ Book 9 Plus, but just by a little bit, hardly noticeable. It weighs around 1.44 Kg or 3.17 lbs and has a thickness of 17mm at its thickest point.
It will be running on Windows 8 to take advantage of its touch screen capabilities, and the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite is expected to have a 256GB SSD storage paired with 4GB of RAM. SSDs or Solid State Drives (although more expensive than a hard drive) are great and are far better and faster than a hard disk drive. They also contribute to the fast boot-up time or wake up time of the notebook.
The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite offers a battery life of around 8.5 hours, that’s a few hours shorter compared to the 12 hours battery life that its big brother can offer.
It has some basic connectivity options like USB 3.0 ports, HDMI (micro HDMI), Card reader slot, headphones, and a mic port. The Samsung Ativ Book 9 Lite also has an RJ45 Ethernet LAN port, a 720p webcam, and will come in Ask Black and White colors.
According to reports there will be two versions of the Ativ Book 9 Lite, a touch version, and a nontouch model. Both of them are expected to be cheaper than the Ativ Book 9 Plus, but the nontouch model might be the cheapest of them all.
The exact SRP or price for the Ativ Book 9 Lite is still unknown as of to date, but it is expected to be available on the market by Q3 of 2013, most probably together with the Ativ Book 9 Plus.
