The Asus Zenbook NX500JK is one of the company’s latest Ultrabooks powered with an Intel Quad-Core Haswell processor and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M discrete graphics processor and features an all-aluminum chassis with a thickness of only 19mm. But that’s not the highlight or the main feature of this particular Ultrabook.
The Zenbook NX500JK (according to the company) is the first to have a 15.6-inch touchscreen display featuring a 4K UHD resolution. It uses both Asus VisualMaster display technology and 3M QDEF (Quantum Dot Enhancement Film) technology to deliver a more natural and vivid color reproduction.
Check out the rest of its features, specifications, price, and availability below. I’ve also added a video review below for your reference.

Asus Zenbook NX500JK Features
The Asus Zenbook NX500JK (specifically the NX500JK-XH72T) is a 15.6-inch Ultrabook, powered with a 2.3GHz Intel Core i7-4712HQ Quad-Core Haswell processor. The CPU is paired with 16GB DDR3L of RAM clocked at 1600MHz and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M with 2GB of VRAM discrete graphics processor. But this isn’t really the highlight of this Ultrabook. One of the main features of the NX500JK is its display.
The Zenbook NX500JK features a nice 15.6-inch capacitive touchscreen display with a display resolution of 3840×2160, a.k.a. 4K UHD. So what’s the big deal about this 4K? What is the difference and how does it compare to a laptop/Ultrabook with a regular 15.6-inch 1080p display?
Although the NX500JK has the same 15.6-inch display size like most laptops, notebook, or Ultrabooks in the market, its 4K (3840×2160) display resolution will give you a finer, more detailed and sharper images and text.
Not to mention, since there are more pixels in the same 15.6-inch display, you will have more room to work with as the windows, icons and everything will look smaller and finer than a regular 1080p display. I know it’s a little bit hard to imagine and the best way for you to appreciate 4K is when you see it in action. I’ve included a video review of the NX500JK below for your reference.
Moving on, the display also features Quantum Dot Display technology. “Quantum dots (QD) or semiconductor nanocrystals can provide an alternative for applications such as display technology. This display technology is similar to organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays, in that light is supplied on demand, which enables more efficient displays.
Unlike light-emitting diodes (LEDs), organic electroluminescent devices can be deposited over larger areas and on flexible or non-planar substrates. Large area display or general illumination devices using OLEDs are available commercially.
However, the light-emitting organic molecules tend to degrade and are sensitive to humidity and oxidation. Quantum dots can support large, flexible displays but do not degrade, making them candidates for flat-panel TV screens, digital cameras, mobile phones, and personal gaming equipment.”
The Asus Zenbook NX500JK uses a PCIe-based SSD that even surpasses the speed of the fastest SATA 6GBps SSD. Expect that boot-up times and read/write operation is generally faster compared to SATA based SSD (or even laptops with HDD).
For connectivity, it has WiFi 802.11ac with Bluetooth 4.0, USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, mini Display Port and etc. Check out the rest of its specifications for the table below.
