UPDATE: Asus VivoBook V551LB-DB71T Ultrabook Intel Core i7 Haswell Now Available
The Asus VivoBook S551 is a 15.6-inch touch Ultrabook measuring only 22.5mm at its thickest point, and weighs only 2.4 Kg, thanks to its Aluminum body. It has a stylish hairline-treated metallic design with ultra-thin dimensions. And since it has a touch screen display, it runs on the Windows 8 operating system that fully takes advantage of its touch capabilities.
The combination of the 4th generation Intel Haswell processor paired with NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M makes it a flexible Ultrabook and can run most of the application from productivity to multimedia and gaming. Despite the slim form factor of the VivoBook S551, it has a built-in optical combo drive for those who are using DVDs or CDs.
Asus has built the Vivobook S551 with the most responsive and accurate touch input in its class. It fully supports the entire Windows 8 gesture control range. With this, you can draw or create things on the screen as accurately as possible.
Is This Good for Multitasking?
As I said, the VivoBook S551 is powered by the 4th Generation Intel Haswell processor, either in a Core i5 or Core i7 setup. Not only does this CPU is great for multitasking and computing-intensive applications, but it also makes the system power efficient as a whole.
It also uses Hybrid Storage and an SSD cache to speed things up. You will feel the difference in turning your Ultrabook On or waking it up from sleep mode, or when installing applications.
Is This Good for Gaming?
The graphics processor of the VivoBook S551 is handled by a discrete NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M – one of the latest mobile GPU on the market. It is based on a 28nm GPU technology and fully supports DirectX 11 graphics. With this graphics processor, you can enjoy games like Grid 2, Crysis, Battlefield 4, or similar graphics-intensive games at a decent frame rate.
How Long is the Battery Life?
The Asus VivoBook S551 has an average of 6-hour battery life. This includes normal use such as web browsing and Microsoft Office productivity. Of course, if you are running more software or applications from the background or playing games, battery life is expected to be shorter.
