Asus has recently revealed a lineup of convertible notebooks, including Transformer TF701T, T300, and Transformer Book Trio. This time Asus has announced another notebook/tablet hybrid, powered by the latest Bay Trail Quad-Core SoC – the Asus Transformer Book T100. Asus has officially unveiled the Transformer Book T100 during the Intel Developer Forum or IDF 2013. See specs, prices, and availability below.

Asus Transformer Book T100 Specs and Features

The Asus Transformer Book T100 is an ultra-portable notebook that can be converted into a tablet simply by removing it from its keyboard dock. The display is a 10-point 10.1-inch IPS panel perfect for viewing even in a 178-degree angle; unfortunately it has only a resolution of 1366×768 and not full HD. Well it’s not bad considering that it is an IPS display and it’s only 10 inches. Perhaps Asus is trying to cut down the cost. Well if you want full HD then you can always opt for its big brother, the Transformer Book T300.

Under its hood, the Transformer Book T100 is powered by an Intel Atom Bay Trail-T Z3740 Quad Core SoC with a max clock speed of 1.8GHz. The SoC is paired with 2GB dual-channel memory, and thanks to the Bay Trail Z3740, it can last up to 11 hours before recharging the battery. The T100 will run on Windows 8.1 out of the box, and is pre-installed with Microsoft Office Home and Student 2013, with full versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote.

Its keyboard dock features precision-engineered keys with a clicky touchpad that fully supports Windows 8.1 gestures. As for its connectivity options, it has USB 3.0 ports, 3.5mm audio jack, micro USB, HDMI, and microSD. And let’s not forget the 1.2-megapixel camera found in the tablet.

The Asus Transformer Book T100 is also one of the lightest convertible weighing only 2.4lbs with the keyboard dock attached, and the tablet only weighs 1.2lbs. It measures 10.4″ x 6.7″ x 0.93″ including the keyboard, but the tablet is only 0.41-inch thick.

Price and Availability

The Asus Transformer Book T100 has a suggested retail price of $349 for the 32GB version, while the 64GB version is $399. The T100 is expected to hit shelves starting sometime in October 2013.

Putting into consideration that this device comes with a full version of MS Office Home and Student 2013, I think the price is just right. But personally if budget is not a problem, I would still prefer the Transformer Book Trio over this one.
